About  B, the filmmaker

I’m an emerging film director and creative producer based in Los Angeles, originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. I produce, direct, and edit a diverse range of media projects, including documentaries, narrative films, commercials, and more.

The core of my most impactful work focuses on history through the African American lens, ancestral discovery, and multicultural education. I’m passionate about exploring themes of art, fashion, music, food, and ways of life across cultures, often beyond my own identity.

My path into filmmaking was shaped by several key influences. The first began in my family home, where I was immersed in the stories of my parents and elders. Our walls were lined with photographs spanning generations, and I grew up watching family videos from the 1960s, shot on 8mm film and later digitized into DVDs.

Next, my first international trip to Greece as a teenager opened my eyes to the vastness of the world and the many untold stories.

Finally, I was inspired by a college professor who was a visual anthropologist. His ethnographic films from Tanzania, which connected travel, culture, and storytelling, resonated deeply with my own love for connecting with people and sharing stories through visuals.

By combining all of these influences, I create work that is inspiring, educational, and entertaining, with the hope of encouraging others to explore their own identities and connect with cultures beyond their own.

Outside of my own personal projects, I’ve worked on set for Universal Pictures, ABC Network, Vans and more.
